Joint-Stock Company “Pasazieru vilciens” is the sole inland public transport service provider that carries the passengers in the whole territory of Latvia by rail.
JSC “Pasazieru vilciens” is established in accordance with the restructuration program of the State Joint-Stock Company “Latvijas dzelzcels”. The company was created instead of the structural units of SJSC “Latvijas dzelzcels” – Passenger Transport Company “Elektrovilciens” and PTC “Dizelvilciens” thus becoming the first subsidiary of SJSC “Latvijas dzelzcels”.
As of October 2008 JSC “Pasazieru vilciens” is an independent state-owned company.
In 2009 the company has got the international quality management system certificate ISO 9001:2008.
JSC "Pasazieru vilciens" makes the passenger transports in the following
electric train routes:
- Riga - Aizkraukle
- Riga - Jelgava
- Riga - Skulte
- Riga - Tukums
and in the following diesel train routes:
- Riga - Krustpils - Daugavpils - Krāslava - Indra
- Riga - Madona - Gulbene
- Riga - Sigulda - Valmiera - Lugaži - Valga
- Riga - Rezekne - Zilupe
- Riga - Dobele - Liepaja
